HFD RESCUES INJURED HIKER IN MAILI

The HFD received a 911 call at 7:40 p.m. for a 51 year old female hiker who was injured while hiking the Maili Pillbox trail in Maili. Six units staffed with approximately 12 personnel responded. The first unit arrived at scene at 7:48 p.m. and deployed on foot. HFD personnel made patient contact at 8:03 p.m. and found the patient had an injured
right ankle. Personnel provided medical care and then airlifted the patient after placing her onto a stretcher. Patient care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services. The HFD also escorted the patient’s acquaintance to safety.

safely.
• Always let others know where you plan to hike and what time you expect to
return.
• If you call 911 to be rescued in the mountains, please stay in the same area so
the rescuers can find you based on your last known geo-location coordinates.
