The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 2:49 p.m. for an injured hiker on Lulumahu Falls Trail in Nuuanu. Four units staffed with 12 personnel responded.
The first unit arrived at the scene at 3:00 p.m. and ascended up the trail on foot. An HFD Rescue Company arrived and assisted with the rescue effort. Rescuers found the visitor from California near the waterfall area. She was on the trail with her boyfriend when she sustained an ankle injury and was unable to continue with the hike. HFD rescue specialists administered basic first-aid then secured her in a rescue stretcher. Rescue personnel carried her to Nuuanu Pali Drive not far from the surrounding residential area. At that location, patient care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services who transported her to a local hospital in stable condition.
