UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department’s Fire Investigator has determined that the cause of the fire on June 30, 2021 at 84-1162 Lahaina Street was incendiary. The fire originated in the southeast room on the first floor of the structure. However, no one was seen in the structure at that time of the fire. Neighbors say the building has been vacant for several years, but known to have frequent squatters. The fire damage is estimated at $698,000 to the building and $0 to the contents. Because the fire was intentionally set, the case has been referred to HPD for criminal follow-up.
