HFD RESPONDS TO A OVERTURNED GARBAGE TRUCK ON THE H1 FREEWAY

The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 8:29 a.m. for an overturned refuse truck on the H1 Freeway, in the westbound direction, just before the University Avenue offramp. Four HFD units responded with approximately 14 personnel. The first unit arrived at 8:33 a.m., established command, and reported the refuse vehicle on its side, blocking the far right lane and right shoulder. Both the driver and the passenger were able to self extricate themselves from the truck, with no reports of injuries. The refuse truck did not lose its load on the highway. The cause of the incident is under investigation.

The Honolulu Fire Commission is accepting applications for the Fire Chief position.
