HFD RESPONDS TO A BOATER IN DISTRESS AT MAUNALUA BAY BOAT RAMP

The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 6:11 p.m. for a boater in distress off of Maunalua Bay Boat Ramp in Hawaii Kai. Five HFD units responded with approximately 16 personnel. The first unit arrived at the scene and performed a visual search. They later reported that Ocean Safety’s watercraft was at the disabled boat.

HFD units assisted a rescue watercraft from the Ocean Safety and Lifeguard Services Division. In total, one boat, one helicopter, one rescue watercraft, two HFD resources, one Rescue and one Battalion Chief responded to this incident. The Ocean Safety and Lifeguard Services Division towed the disabled boat to shore and secured the occupants.
