UPDATE: HOME FIRE IN NANAKULI DETERMINED TO BE ACCIDENTALLY SET

UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department Fire Investigator has determined the cause of the fire at 87-248 Mikana Street in Nanakuli, on August 21, 2021, as accidentally set.  The investigation revealed that the fire originated in the area where a gasoline generator was used to provide power since reportedly there was no utility service to the home. 

Total estimated fire damage is at $799,000.  The estimated damages to the building is at $342,000 and $10,000 to its contents at 87-248 Mikana Street, which is the home where the fire started.  The estimated damages for the neighboring home at 87-244 Mikana Street was $457,000 to the structure and $80,000 to its contents.  No smoke alarms were found to be installed in the structures during the fire investigation.  There are no injury updates.
