On Friday, September 24, 2021, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call
at 2:25 p.m. about a wildland fire at 92-683 Malahuna Loop in Kapolei. Thirteen units,
staffed with 38 personnel responded. The 911 caller described smoke and flames, but
reported that no structures were involved in the fire or burning.
The first unit arrived at the scene at 2:31 p.m., established command, secured a water
supply and fire fighters ran hose lines to begin attacking the blaze to prevent it from
spreading toward residential homes in Honokai Hale.
The fire was contained to approximately 90% by 3:26 p.m. The HFD personnel estimate
that this wildland fire burned about four acres. There were no injuries, no homes were
damaged and no evacuations necessary.
