BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN HONOLULU

The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:16 a.m. this morning for
a building fire at 317 Auwaiolimu Street in Honolulu. Nine HFD units, staffed with
approximately 39 personnel, responded. The first firefighters arrived at the scene at
12:22 p.m. to find a fully involved one-story abandoned structure. HFD personnel
established command, secured a water supply, and due to the integrity of the structure,
initiated a defensive fire attack to prevent further fire spread to adjacent exposures. Fire
crews were able to get a good hit on the fire and brought it under control at 12:35 a.m.
The fire was completely extinguished at 1:22 a.m.

All occupants were able to safely evacuate and no injuries were reported for this
incident. An Emergency Medical Services unit was brought back to scene for a 40-
year-old woman who had fainted. Cause unknown.

This incident is still being investigated as to its origin and cause and there are no fire
damage estimates at this time
