HONOLULU FIRE DEPARTMENT PROVIDING FREE AT-HOME 2019 NOVEL CORONAVIRUS TEST KITS

The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) broadens its Honolulu Expanded Testing 2021 operations and will provide free at-home 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) test kits to the public at its four drive-through testing sites.

State and county leaders announced last week that the Say Yes! COVID Test At-Home Testing Challenge would provide 125,000 Oahu residents, living in eligible zip codes, with eight rapid antigen tests. The federal program encourages participants to use the tests twice a week for four weeks, regardless of symptoms, to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and keep the community healthy.

The HFD has more than 3,000 test kits to distribute. To obtain a free test kit, go to one of the HFD testing sites, which includes the Aloha Stadium, Ewa Mahiko District Park, Waianae District Park, and Kapolei Consolidated Theatres parking lot. It is not necessary to park your vehicle to pick up a test kit. Drive-through one of the four mentioned sites. It is also recommended to check online for the schedule of operation for the specific location you plan to visit.

These free rapid antigen COVID-19 tests are authorized for use by the Food and Drug Administration. Tests require a quick swab inside each nostril. Results can be read in about ten minutes. A free, private, and easy-to-use mobile application is available to guide individuals in every test-taking step. Each test kit contains a total of eight tests that can support home testing twice a week for four weeks for an individual.
