On Tuesday, October 5, 2021, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 9:04 p.m. for a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Fort Weaver Road and Kolowaka Drive in Ewa Beach. Four HFD units responded with approximately 14 personnel. The first HFD unit arrived at 9:10 p.m. and quickly established command. The initial HFD unit found six people involved in the crash. Five individuals were able to self-extricate from their vehicle and the sixth individual was found in an overturned pickup truck, suspended by his seatbelt.
HFD crews stabilized the overturned pickup truck and used battery-powered Hydraulic Rescue Tools to free the occupant of the overturned pickup truck. Medical care was quickly handed off to an on scene Emergency Medical Services (EMS) unit. The five, who self extricated, were assessed by EMS and transported. HFD concluded operations shortly thereafter with no other reported injuries.
