On June 21, 2022, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 9:36 a.m. for a person pinned in a vehicle rollover accident in Ewa Beach. Five HFD units, staffed with 15 personnel, responded to this incident. The first unit arrived at the scene at 9:35 a.m. to find a construction water tanker truck that had rolled down an embankment and onto its side. A male occupant was inside the cab with a pinned extremity. HFD crews stabilized the vehicle and used battery-powered hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the occupant. Medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services upon completion of the extrication at 9:47 a.m. Less than two gallons of diesel fuel spilled from the tanker. HFD personnel used absorbent to clean up the spilled fuel and protect the environment. HFD concluded operations shortly thereafter with no injuries to personnel.
