On March 17, 2023, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:56
p.m. for a building fire at 91-1180 Hanaloa Street in Ewa Beach and responded with 10
units staffed with approximately 35 personnel. The first unit arrived at the scene at 5:05
p.m. to find a working fire at the bravo side of a single-family home.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and commenced an aggressive offensive fire attack.
It was reported that all occupants had exited the building and were accounted for. A
primary search was conducted for the family’s pet who tragically succumbed to the fire
conditions. The fire was brought under control at 5:17 p.m. and extinguished at 5:32
p.m.

The American Red Cross was called for the three adults and 11 children that were
displaced.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to
provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report
is complete.
