HIKER RESCUED FROM THE KOKO HEAD ARCH IN HAWAII KAI

On March 17, 2023, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 8:15
a.m. for an injured hiker near the Koko Head Arch in Hawaii Kai. Five HFD units,
staffed with 13 personnel, responded to the emergency. The first HFD unit arrived at
the scene at 8:24 a.m., established command and made their way to the hiker’s
location on foot. A second unit secured a landing zone nearby.

It was reported that a female in her 60s suffered an injury and was unable to descend
on her own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 8:34 a.m., where they
conducted a medical assessment. The hiker was then transported via Air 1 to the
landing zone. Medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 8:55 a.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
