HFD to Roll out Rapid Response Vehicles (RRVs)

On January 28, 2021, at 8:00 a.m. the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) will put seven RRVs in service.  The RRVs will be activated at Station 9, Kaka’ako, Station 12, Waipahu, Station 17, Kaneohe, Station 24, Ewa Beach, Station 26, Waianae, Station 31, Kalihi Kai and Station 40, Kapolei.  The RRVs are OFFICIAL HFD APPARATUSES with red flashing lights, sirens and detailing (high visibility markings)

The RRVs are response vehicles for medical and patient assist calls in lieu of aerial apparatuses.  The trucks offer greater maneuverability to transport HFD personnel and equipment closer to a scene to provide life-saving capabilities.

The new RRVs are more efficient on fuel, easier to decontaminate and cheaper to maintain.  Use of RRVs will increase the longevity of HFD’s aerial apparatuses.

Contact Acting Captain Carl Otsuka at 808 723-7167 if you have any questions regarding the launch of the RRVs.
