HFD MITIGATING WILDLAND FIRE IN MILILANI MAUKA

On October 30, 2023, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 5:51 a.m. about a wildland fire in the Mililani Mauka area and responded initially with 10 HFD units staffed with approximately 30 personnel.

The first HFD unit arrived on scene at 6:12 a.m. and immediately assessed the situation and strategized an incident action plan. All other units arrived on scene, however after further investigation, the Incident Commander determined this wildland fire was in a remote mountainous area, then released most of the HFD ground units from this incident.

The HFD’s Air 1 and Air 2 and the U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter are currently working to contain the fire with water drops. The HFD currently has three units on scene actively responding and monitoring the fire. There are no structures or homes threatened and no evacuations have been ordered at this time.
