MILILANI MAUKA WILDFIRE UPDATE #11

UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) has suspended operations at the
wildland fire above Mililani Mauka due to impending darkness. The fire continues to burn
in a remote, mountainous area with steep, dangerous terrain. The fire has not increased
in size and remains at approximately 1,100 acres. Significant progress was made by the
seven air assets at the scene and the fire is now 70% contained. The main portion of the
fire is moving in the southeast direction, approximately four miles from the Mililani
Mauka community. HFD’s drone team will conduct a fire watch starting at sundown. HFD
will do another air reconnaissance at 7:00 a.m. tomorrow.

The State of Hawaii Department of Health’s Clean Air Branch began air quality
monitoring. Air quality inquiries can be routed directly to the Clean Air Branch at (808)
586-4417.

The HFD Investigators and USFWS Office of Law Enforcement ask the public to call
(808) 347-2086 with any information that may assist with the fire investigation process.
For anyone who may be affected by the smoke, the HFD recommends they shelter in
place or a place with air conditioning. If anyone is experiencing difficulty breathing,
please call 911 immediately.
