On November 9, 2023, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 7:24
p.m. for a building fire near 95-2031 Waikalani Drive in Mililani and responded with 7
units staffed with 23 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 7:30 p.m. to find heavy
black smoke emanating from an apartment unit of a four-story residential building.
Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated an aggressive fire attack with hand
lines. All searches for occupants, within the unit where the fire originated and also in
adjacent units, resulted in confirming that there was no one in the building during the
incident. The fire was brought under control at 7:37 p.m. Overhaul techniques were
also performed to look for hidden fire in void spaces to confirm that the fire did not
extend into adjacent areas of the building. The fire was extinguished at 7:43 p.m. All
HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.
The American Red Cross was requested to assist the three individuals who are
displaced.
The HFD Fire Investigator was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire as
well as provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final
investigation report is complete.
