UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Investigator has classified the cause of
the fire that occurred on November 10, 2023 at 86-330 Lualualei Homestead Road as
accidental. The cause of the fire was an electrical arc which ignited combustible
components underneath the cab and spread to the interior of the vehicle. The damage
estimate is $100,000 to the vehicle.

On November 18, 2023, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a call to assist
the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) at 3:07 p.m. for a commercial vehicle fire at
86-330 Lualualei Homestead Road in Waianae and responded with two units staffed
with five personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 3:13 p.m to find a smoldering fire
involving a commercial truck.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated a fire attack to extinguish the fire.
Overhaul techniques were then performed to look for hidden fire in void spaces to
confirm that the fire did not extend into other areas of the vehicle. While the fire was
being extinguished, all interior searches for occupants resulted in confirming that there
was no one in the vehicle at the time of the fire.

This fire is under investigation to determine the origin, cause, and to provide damage
estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
