RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN WAIANAE

On November 14, 2023, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 9:17
a.m. for a building fire at 85-174, Unit B Waianae Valley Road in Waianae and
responded with 13 units staffed with approximately 44 personnel. The first unit arrived at
the scene at 9:23 a.m. to find smoke emanating from a small, single-story residential
structure.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and commenced an offensive fire attack. The fire
was brought under control at 9:35 a.m. and extinguished at 10:07 a.m. The adjacent
structure was evacuated due to fire impingement and the American Red Cross notified
to assist five individuals who were displaced from the primary fire structure.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to
provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report
is complete.
