WILDLAND FIRE UNDER CONTROL IN WAIANAE

On November 14, 2023, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at
11:52 a.m. for a wildland fire near 85-1601 Haleahi Road in Waianae and responded
with 18 units staffed with 44 personnel.

The fire impacted approximately 16.8 acres of land and was declared under control at
7:55 p.m. The exterior of a single-family home and a 20’ x 30’ chicken coop was
damaged by the fire. The owner of the chicken coop, a male in his 70s, suffered an
injury while releasing his chickens. Medical care was transferred to the Emergency
Medical Services at 12:59 p.m. No other structures were threatened and no evacuations
were ordered.

The HFD drone team will conduct a fire watch overnight. All HFD personnel are
currently accounted for with no reports of injuries at this time.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to
provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report
is complete.
