INJURED HIKER RESCUED FROM WAIMANO POOLS TRAIL IN PEARL CITY

On December 23, 2023, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 1:40
p.m. for an injured hiker on the Waimano Pools Trail in Pearl City and responded with 5
units staffed with 16 personnel. The first unit arrived at 1:44 p.m., secured a landing
zone and prepared for air operations.

It was reported that a 25-year-old female suffered a head injury after falling
approximately 12 feet near the falls and could not continue on her own. Air 2 inserted
rescuer personnel to the hiker’s location at 2:04 p.m., where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support treatment. She was then packaged and airlifted safely to the
nearby landing zone at 2:24 p.m. where medical care was transferred to the Emergency
Medical Services. The other four hikers in her party were escorted out of the trail safely.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.
