TWO-ALARM RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN PALOLO

On January 14, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:50
p.m. for a building fire near 2374 10th Avenue Place in Palolo and responded with 10
units staffed with 35 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 12:53 p.m. to find
smoke and flames emanating from the front side of a two story residential building.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated an aggressive fire attack with
handlines to bring the fire under control at 1:02 p.m. All searches for occupants
confirmed that there was no one in the building during the incident. Overhaul
techniques were performed to look for hidden fire in void spaces of the building to
ensure the fire did not extend into neighboring homes. The fire was extinguished at 1:06
p.m. All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.

The HFD Fire Investigator was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire as
well as provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final
investigation report is complete.
