BUILDING FIRE AT KAMAMALU COMMUNITY CENTER EXTINGUISHED

On January 16, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 9:45
p.m. for a building fire at Kamamalu Community Center and responded with six units
staffed with 22 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 9:48 p.m. to find smoke and
flames emanating from a bathroom structure.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated an aggressive fire attack to bring the
fire under control at 9:55 p.m. Primary and secondary searches were conducted to
ensure the building was not occupied. The fire was fully extinguished at 10:16 p.m. All
HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.

The HFD Fire Investigator was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire as
well as provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final
investigation report is complete.
