HIKER RESCUED ON WAIMANO POOL TRAIL IN PEARL CITY

On January 16, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 2:06
p.m. for a lost hiker on the Waimano Pool Trail in Pearl City and responded with 6 units
staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 2:23 p.m., established
command and began a ground search of the hiker. The second-arriving unit secured a
landing zone for air operations.

It was reported that a solo 27 year old female hiker became lost and was unable to find
her way back to the trailhead. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 2:47 p.m.,
conducted a medical assessment, and confirmed that the hiker was uninjured. The hiker
was then loaded into Air 1 and safely transported to the landing zone where medical
care was declined.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
