CAUSE OF BUILDING FIRE AT KAMAMALU COMMUNITY CENTER WAS INCENDIARY

UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Investigator has classified the cause of the fire that occurred on January 16, 2024 at the Kamamalu Community Center as incendiary. The area of origin was an office used as a storage room. The damage estimate is $100,000 to the property and no value to the contents. The fire involved a vacant and secured public bathroom that was out-of-service.

The fire was determined to be intentionally set and has been referred to the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) for criminal investigation.
