HIKER RESCUED FROM THE JEEP TRAIL IN MOKULEIA

On January 20, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:20
p.m. for a hiker on the Jeep Trail in Mokuleia and responded with 5 units staffed with 13
personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 12:48 p.m. and secured a landing zone
near the Dillingham Airfield in preparation for a search and rescue operation by air.

It was reported that a 62-year-old female hiker had been hiking for three and one-half
hours and was suffering from extreme exhaustion and dehydration. Air 1 inserted a
rescuer at the hiker’s location where a medical assessment was completed to confirm
she was not injured. After landing nearby, she was then loaded onto Air 1 and
transported safely to the landing zone. Her medical care was then transferred to the
awaiting Emergency Medical Services unit at 1:39 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
