INJURED HIKER RESCUED ON DIAMOND HEAD CRATER TRAIL IN KAHALA

On January 23, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:10
a.m. for an injured hiker on the Diamond Head Crater Trail in Kahala and responded
with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 10:19 a.m.,
established command and ascended the trail on foot. A second-arriving unit secured a
nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a female in her 60s suffered an injury while hiking and was unable
to descend the trail on her own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 10:42
a.m., conducted a medical assessment, and provided basic life support. The hiker was
then safely transported via Air 1 to the landing zone where medical care was transferred
to Emergency Medical Services at 10:53 a.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
