BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN AIEA

On January 25, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:39
a.m. for a building fire near 98-410 Koauka Loop in Aiea and responded with 6 units
staffed with approximately 22 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 4:44 a.m. to
find light smoke emanating from a small building in the pool area.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated an aggressive fire attack with
handlines to bring the fire under control at 5:00 a.m. All searches for occupants
confirmed that there was no one in the building during the incident. Overhaul
techniques were performed to look for hidden fire in void spaces of the building to
ensure the fire did not extend into other areas of the building. The fire was extinguished
at 5:10 a.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.

The HFD Fire Investigator was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire as
well as provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final
investigation report is complete.
