RUBBISH FIRE IN MAKIKI EXTINGUISHED

On February 2, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 2:33
p.m. for a building fire at 1809 Keeaumoku Street in Makiki and responded with 7 units
staffed with 26 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 2:38 p.m. to find a rubbish
fire that spread to a large tree in the yard of a single-story residence.

Fire fighters initiated an aggressive fire attack to quickly bring the fire under control at
2:45 p.m. The fire was fully extinguished at 2:54 p.m. The fire impinged on and damaged
two vehicles and one motorcycle in the parking lot adjacent to the property.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.

The HFD Fire Investigator was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire as
well as provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation
report is complete.
