CAUSE OF TWO-ALARM RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE IN KAIMUKI WAS ACCIDENTAL

UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Investigator has classified the cause of
the fire that occurred on February 3, 2024 at 735 15th Avenue in Kaimuki as accidental.
The ignition source was an electrical arc between an extension cord and timer device
that was placed on a foam bench cushion. The damage estimate is $295,000 to the
property and $5,000 to the contents.
