CAUSE OF RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE IN KAIMUKI WAS ACCIDENTAL

UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Investigator has classified the cause of
the fire that occurred on February 4, 2024 at 2043 10th Avenue in Kaimuki as
accidental. The point of origin was a power strip being used outside as permanent wiring
and “piggybacking” off of multiple extension cords and other power strips, which is not
recommended. The damage estimate is $20,000 to the property and $20,000 to the
contents.
