MISSING DIRT BIKER RESCUED FROM THE KAHUKU PERIMETER TRAIL IN KAHUKU

On February 10, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 6:41
p.m. for a missing dirt biker on the Kahuku Perimeter Trail in Kahuku and responded
with 6 HFD units staffed with approximately 17 personnel. The first unit arrived at the
scene at 6:56 p.m. to gather more information from the reporting party. A second unit
secured a landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a male dirt biker in his 40s had been missing for four hours and did
not have a cellular phone from which to pull a geolocation. Rescue personnel boarded
Air 1 to begin the search by air and were quickly able to locate the missing dirt biker.
Rescue personnel made contact with the dirt biker at 7:56 p.m., conducted a medical
assessment, and confirmed that he was uninjured. The dirt biker was then safely
airlifted to the landing zone where he was reunited with the reporting party and his
companion bikers.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
