UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Investigator has classified the cause of
the fire that occurred on February 17, 2024 at 2407 Makanani Drive in Kalihi as
accidental. The ignition source was an improperly discarded cigarette. The damage
estimate is $95,000 to the property and $5,000 to the contents. The adjacent buildings
also suffered minor damage due to the fire. Those damage estimates are $25,000 in
property.
