RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN KALIHI

On March 11, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 5:08 a.m. for a building fire at 1822 Republican Street in Kalihi and responded with 6 units staffed with approximately 22 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 5:15 a.m. to find a working fire at an abandoned, two-story residence.

Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced an offensive fire attack and quickly extinguished the fire by 5:20 a.m. A primary and secondary search confirmed there were no occupants in the structure. All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
