On March 21, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 11:04 p.m. for a single motor vehicle accident on the H3 Freeway in the Kaneohe area and responded with four units staffed with 14 personnel. The first responding company arrived on scene at 11:17 p.m. and located the vehicle off the side of the highway with one occupant still trapped inside. HFD personnel stabilized the vehicle and used battery-powered hydraulic rescue tools to safely extricate the occupant and transferred medical care to the Emergency Services Department at 11:44 p.m. HFD personnel secured the scene and transferred command to the Honolulu Police Department.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
