On April 2, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 2:05 a.m. for a building fire reported at 2149 Komo Mai Drive in Pearl CIty and responded with 10 units staffed with approximately 35 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 2:13 a.m. to find a working fire at a small, single-story residence.
Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated a defensive fire attack. A primary and secondary search confirmed there were no occupants in the structure. The fire was declared under control at 2:44 a.m. and fully extinguished at 3:32 a.m. Overhaul techniques were conducted to ensure fire extinguishment and the fire did not extend into neighboring structures. The American Red Cross will be assisting the five occupants who were affected.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
