RESIDENTIAL APARTMENT BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN MILILANI

On May 12, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 7:00 a.m. for a building fire near 94-1448 Lanikuhana Avenue in Mililani, HFD responded with 7 units staffed with 23 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 7:09 a.m. to find a two-story, residential townhome with light smoke showing from the exterior.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and investigated further while preparing for an offensive fire attack with hose lines. After gaining entry into the unit where smoke was coming from, fire fighters discovered an extinguished appliance fire in the kitchen. All occupants of the involved unit self-evacuated and were assessed by Emergency Medical Services. Fire fighters investigated further and confirmed there was no fire extension into void spaces or neighboring units. Ventilation fans were used to clear the unit of residual smoke.

The fire is under investigation to determine the origin, cause, and damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is completed.
