CAUSE OF RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE IN MILILANI WAS ACCIDENTAL

UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Investigator has classified the cause of the fire that occurred on May 12, 2024 at 94-1448 Lanikuhana Avenue in Mililani as accidental. The ignition source was the lithium-ion battery for a handheld massage gun that was not actively charging. The damage estimate is $5,000 to the property and $1,000 to the contents. Smoke detector activation allowed for early detection and escape of all six occupants.
