On May 25, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:24 p.m. and responded to a building fire at 6004 Kalanianaole Highway in Aina Haina with 6 units staffed with 22 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene of a two-story residential structure at 12:30 p.m. Residents were able to extinguish the fire prior to HFD’s arrival.
To ensure the fire was fully extinguished, fire fighters performed overhaul techniques to look for hidden fire in void spaces. One additional resource unit, in addition to the unit already on scene, was needed and all remaining responding units were made available.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.
The HFD Fire Investigator was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire as well as provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
