HIKER RESCUED ON SCHOFIELD WAIKANE TRAIL IN WAHIAWA

On May 26, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 7:32 p.m. for an injured hiker on the Schofield Waikane Trail in Wahiawa and responded with 5 units staffed with 13 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 7:44 p.m., established command and secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a male hiker had suffered an injury and was unable to descend the trail on his own. Rescue personnel were inserted near the hiker’s location at 8:13 p.m. where they conducted a medical assessment and prepared for an air extraction. The hiker was then safely airlifted via Air 1 to the landing zone where medical care was transferred to Federal Fire Department Emergency Medical Services at 8:33 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
