HIKERS RESCUED ON KAUHAO PALI TRAIL IN WAIALUA

On May 26, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 7:41 p.m. for two lost hikers on the Kauhao Pali Trail in Waialua and responded with 5 units staffed with 13 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 8:02 p.m., established command and gathered information. Personnel then relocated to a nearby area where a landing zone was secured in preparation for Air 2 arrival.

It was reported that two hikers had become lost and were unable to descend the trail on their own. Rescue personnel were inserted near the hiker’s location at 8:40 p.m., where they conducted a medical assessment and confirmed that the hikers were not injured. Rescue personnel and the hikers were then safely airlifted via Air 2 to the landing zone at approximately 8:50 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
