ABANDONED RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN NANAKULI

On May 29, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:04 p.m. and responded to a building fire near the intersection of Maaloa Street and Farrington Highway in Nanakuli with 9 units staffed with 28 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 10:07 p.m. to find 25 percent of an abandoned, two-story residential building on fire.

Fire fighters secured a water supply, initiated an offensive fire attack, and quickly brought the fire under control at 10:14 p.m. The fire was extinguished at 10:46 p.m. A primary and secondary search confirmed there were no occupants in the structure.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
