INJURED SWIMMER RESCUED AT SPITTING CAVES IN HAWAII KAI

On May 30, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 3:28 p.m. and responded to an injured swimmer at “Spitting Caves” in Hawaii Kai with six units staffed with approximately 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 3:37 p.m., established command and descended the trail to the water’s edge.

It was reported that a female swimmer in her teens was injured on the rocks and unable to ascend the trail to safety. HFD personnel arrived at the swimmer’s location where they conducted a medical assessment and administered basic life support. The swimmer was then safely airlifted to the nearby landing zone where her medical care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services at 4:12 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.
