On June 1, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:17 a.m. and responded to a building fire near 62 Prospect Street with 13 units staffed with 48 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 10:25 a.m. to find a two story, single family house, consumed with heavy smoke and flames that were impinging on a neighboring home.

Fire fighters secured a water supply, initiated an offensive fire attack, and quickly brought the fire under control at 10:44 a.m. The homes affected were ventilated of smoke and found to be unoccupied at the time. The fire was extinguished at 11:31 a.m.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin, cause, and to provide
estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
