HIKER RESCUED FROM DIAMOND HEAD TRAIL

On June 3, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:57 p.m. and responded to a report of a hiker having a medical emergency on the Diamond Head Trail with 5 units staffed with 16 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 5:05 p.m. and started up the trail.

It was reported that a 67-year-old male became ill at the top of the trail and was going in and out of consciousness. The hiker reportedly did not fall and was not injured. HFD personnel made it to the hiker at 5:26 p.m. and after completing a medical assessment, it was decided that the patient would be flown out via Air 2. Patient care was then transferred to EMS.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
