INJURED HIKER RESCUED ON KA’AU CRATER TRAIL IN KAIMUKI

On June 8, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 3:42 p.m. and responded to an injured hiker on the Ka’au Crater Trail in Kaimuki with 5 units staffed with 13 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 3:51 p.m. and secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a female hiker became injured and was unable to descend the trail on her own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 4:19 p.m. where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. The hiker was then safely transported via Air 1 to the landing zone where medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 4:37 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
