HIKER RESCUED FROM THE KOKO HEAD CRATER TRAIL IN HAWAII KAI

On June 11, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:59 p.m. and responded to a hiker in distress on the Koko Head Crater Trail in Hawaii Kai with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 1:09 p.m. and ascended the trail on foot. Additional units secured a landing zone nearby in preparation for an air extraction.

It was reported that a male in his 20s was unable to continue hiking. The unit on foot arrived at the hiker’s location at 1:25 p.m. where they conducted a medical assessment and performed basic life support treatment. He was then packaged and airlifted safely to the nearby landing zone where he denied any need for medical care.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
