HIKER RESCUED FROM ABOVE MANOA FALLS TRAIL IN MANOA

On June 15, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 6:34 p.m. and responded to a group of hikers in distress above Manoa Falls Trail in Manoa with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 6:44 p.m. and ascended the trail on foot. The second-arriving unit secured a nearby landing zone in preparation for air operations.

It was reported that seven hikers were lost and in a precarious location. One hiker became separated from the group and was able to find his way to the trailhead. The remaining six hikers were unable to safely descend the trail on their own. Air 1 inserted rescue personnel to the hikers’ location where they conducted a medical assessment and confirmed the hiking party was uninjured. The hiking party was, then, safely airlifted, one-by-one, to the nearby landing zone where medical attention was declined.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
