PORTABLE TRAILER FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN SAND ISLAND AREA

On June 17, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:03 a.m. and responded to a building fire at 400 Sand Island Access Parkway in Kalihi with 7 units staffed with approximately 26 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 10:12 a.m. to find an extinguished portable trailer fire.

It was reported that United States Coast Guard personnel were able to extinguish the fire with multiple fire extinguishers and a garden hose and all occupants safely exited the structure. HFD personnel put out any remaining hotspots. All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
