HIKER RESCUED ON WAIMANO TRAIL IN PEARL CITY

On June 27, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:52 a.m. and responded to a hiker in distress on the Waimano Trail in Pearl City with 5 units staffed with 12 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 11:01 a.m., established command and secured a landing zone for air operations.

It was reported that a 35-year-old male hiker was stuck in a precarious location and unable to safely exit the trail on his own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 11:25 a.m., conducted a medical assessment, and confirmed that the hiker was uninjured. The hiker was then safely transported to the landing zone where medical care was declined.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
